Spring and summer
are so close, I can taste them both
leaves green with hope
so few I can still see through them
and watch the trains

Don’t let the birds be liars
chirping to me
of fancy, and
Oh, I do love (does anyone
still believe in)
stardust
my mind wandering
in this soft morning moment
treasured for its ease
The sun on my back
and yesterday
is miles away, or
kilometers, if
you sway that way.
Joy, in a squirrel on my porch
Love, in a friend’s family
after death
peace, when I pray
O Father, thank you
Weather report:
It rained all night, then
the sun came out
bright
then it rained while it shined
and stopped again
leaving us looking for rainbows
as the phone rang
leaving dark clouds
to hang there.
She is gone.
No snow
Without the snow
we rise above the lake in a fog
contemplating a long spring
and a longer summer
rosebuds and crickets
and long walks
talking, and figuring out
what happened last winter
in the snow
