I found joy
in this morning
in the birds
that would not shut up
and I turned off the box
to listen, and
in the rain
drenching my basil
and thyme, then
in the laugh
that diffused
our
early quarrel
Month: June 2020
If anyone asks
it wasn’t luck
that brought us together
or fate
and it might have been God
doing that
but so far I have received
no official word
all I know for certain, and
all that I remember
are fireworks going off
food tasting better
and all the senses
heightened
and if you go
there will be no more
explosions, and
all my meals
plain
without
any spice

- No matter how well I think I am cleaning the toaster, and beneath the toaster, there are always more crumbs. Unsatisfying.
